Day 1 – Working from Home

I want to start off by acknowledging how fortunate I am to be able to work from home. While I wish this process would have started weeks ago in the US, I’m hopeful it will make a significant impact. Some extreme measures now will hopefully shorten the duration and lessen the impact of the Covid-19.

I learned a few things from my first day working at home.

Catching up with my parents on my commute to work requires faster talking or needs to be reschedule. My drive time is typically five to ten minutes. My walk from the bedroom to my new home office takes about 30 to 45 seconds.

My dining room chairs are not meant to be sat in for 8 hours. Does the as seen on tv egg sitter cushion really work? Stay tuned….you may just get a review of it in a few weeks.

I was able to get so much more work done without all of the interruptions at the office. In fact, I was on such a roll that I had no idea work was supposed to be over an hour and a half earlier.

I may be spending more on my electric bill, but I’ll be saving a ton on hair care products.

My new coworkers have to learn to adapt to new technology. The printer is the new vacuum cleaner!

Either we need to start working on desensitizing with every sheet of paper printed or I need to go completely paperless. Otherwise, it’s going to be tough to survive working from home.

Day 1 is in the books. It was a good and productive start. Here’s hoping it makes a difference.
